FRSC Chief Extends Christmas Greetings to Christian Faithfuls, Emphasizes Road Safety Vigilance
As Christmas festivities unite Nigerian Christians with global counterparts, Dauda Ali Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), extends warm wishes and emphasizes the Corps’ commitment to ensuring highway safety.
In his Christmas message, Biu urges vigilance on the roads, emphasizing the need to curb reckless driving habits that jeopardize the safety of all road users. He specifically cautions travelers about the heightened risks associated with increased human and vehicular traffic during the festive season, urging extra caution to prevent accidents.
Biu calls upon road users to actively support FRSC’s ongoing road safety sensitization programs, addressing concerns of poor road usage attitudes that exacerbate challenges during the Christmas and New Year periods. He emphasizes that FRSC has implemented comprehensive measures and strategies for year-end special patrols to tackle anticipated traffic challenges but stresses that public cooperation remains crucial.
Highlighting common offenses leading to accidents, including route violations, overloading, speeding, light signs violations, and driving under the influence, Biu stresses the need for adherence to basic traffic rules not only during the festive season but throughout the year.
Reassuring the public, Biu announces the deployment of sufficient patrol and rescue resources, along with personnel, at black spots and major highways nationwide. These measures aim to facilitate smooth travel and provide timely medical assistance in case of accidents and emergencies.
Biu appeals to Nigerians to promptly report obstructions, crashes, and emergencies to the FRSC toll-free line (122) or directly to the FRSC National Traffic Radio (107.1fm) through dedicated hotline numbers (08052998090 or 09067000015) for swift response to distress calls nationwide.
Concluding his message, the Corps Marshal wishes all Nigerians a joyful Christmas and emphasizes the importance of observing traffic rules for a safe celebration and continued safety beyond the festive seasons.
