Fubara Emerges Governor and Politician of the Year at 2024 OurNigeria News Awards

In a dazzling event heralding excellence and patriotism, His Excellency Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, has been named the “Governor of the Year” and “Politician of the Year” for 2024 at the prestigious Ournigeria News Awards.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the FCT City Library, Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, where the Chairman of the OurNigeria Editorial Board, Dr. AK Peters, unveiled the recipients of the awards.
According to Dr. Peters, the awards are an annual celebration of trailblazers who have distinguished themselves through remarkable contributions to the Nigerian society. The 2024 edition, themed “Nigeria Rising: Celebrating Excellence and Charting the Future”, aims to highlight individuals whose hard work and patriotism have transformed the nation.
Dr. Peters described Sir Sim Fubara as a visionary leader whose governance style has significantly impacted Rivers State. “His Excellency Sir Sim Fubara has redefined excellence in governance and political leadership, setting benchmarks in infrastructure development, economic growth, and grassroots transformation,” he stated.
The Rivers State Governor joins a distinguished list of past recipients recognised for their unwavering commitment to the Nigerian cause.
The Ournigeria News Awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The event will feature a lineup of esteemed guests, including the Special Guest of Honour, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, and Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Umar Abdulmutallab, CON.
Dr. Peters assured that the selection process for the award winners was scrupulously thorough, with nominees undergoing meticulous assessment by a team of assessors.
The award ceremony also recognises achievements in various fields, including business, military leadership, and humanitarian services. Among the notable honorees are Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, named “Man of the Year” for his groundbreaking petroleum refinery project, and Lt-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, recipient of the TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership.
The full list of recipients spans 22 categories, highlighting a diverse group of Nigerians making strides in their respective fields.
