Gombe Gov seeks collaboration with PSN to tackle healthcare challenges

Gov Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has sought a more robust partnership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) to address healthcare challenges in the state.

The Governor stated this while receiving the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria delegation, at his office in Gombe on Wednesday.
Yahaya said the collaboration with PSN would address the challenges facing the healthcare sector, such as ensuring the availability of essential medicines, tackling counterfeit drugs, and improving healthcare infrastructure in the state.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing quality healthcare for the residents of Gombe state.
Yahaya said his administration is making efforts in the state to address brain drain syndrome by training pharmacists at the Gombe State University.
Yahaya commended PSN for its dedication to the advancement of pharmaceutical practice and healthcare in our country. He urged pharmacists to come up with recommendations that would go a long way in shaping government policies and programmes that will positively impact the well-being of the people.
On his part, the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Professor Cyril Usifor, lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his commitment to strengthening the health system in Gombe and elevating the State to a noteworthy status.
He pointed out projects such as good roads, functioning street lighting, advancements in the healthcare sector, and elevating Gombe’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s cleanest and most hygienic states among many others that stood Gombe out.
Professor Usifor explained that they were at the Government House to express their gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the support that the government has provided towards ensuring the success of their annual conference being held in Gombe.
He further commended the unprecedented level of support they have received, from organizing the summit to other gestures, describing it as the most significant in recent years for the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
“We want to show appreciation to Your Excellency for making sure that our stay in Gombe since we came has been very comfortable. Not only that, you came to declare the ceremony open, your deputy was also there to give a keynote address, and your commissioners and other members of your government also graced the occasion. This is an unprecedented gesture ”, the PSN president said.
Prof Usifor further said that based on what they have seen in Gombe, the majority of them as well as other participants would leave Gombe fully satisfied with the level of its security, development, and hospitality, pledging to serve as ambassadors for the state anywhere they may find themselves
