Gombe Governor Presents N320.1 Billion ‘Budget of Commitment and Resilience’ for 2025

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has presented a proposed budget of N320.1 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, emphasising resilience and commitment to the state’s development.
The budget, tagged the “Budget of Commitment and Resilience,” prioritises infrastructure, education, health, and agriculture.
In his address at the presentation on Tuesday, Governor Yahaya stated that the budget was crafted to align with local and global economic realities while addressing the developmental needs of Gombe State citizens.
Governor Yahaya highlighted the performance of the 2024 budget, which was initially pegged at N208.06 billion but later revised to N364.71 billion through a supplementary budget. As of September 30, 2024, the state recorded a 49.15% budget performance, with N188.37 billion generated as recurrent revenue and N114.14 billion spent on capital projects.
The governor enumerated several milestones achieved under his administration to include: Construction of over 800 kilometers of roads and a Memorandum of Understanding for a 100MW solar power plant; Building over 1,600 classrooms, recruitment of 1,000 teachers, and upgrading of five legacy schools into mega schools with facilities for 15,000 students.
Others include establishment of functional primary health centers in all 114 wards, upgrades to hospitals, and affordable healthcare coverage for 300,000 residents under the Go-Health scheme; Provision of subsidized inputs, establishment of five farm service centers, and support for the National Livestock Transformation Project; Expansion of the Gombe Regional Water Supply Scheme and rehabilitation of over 1,250 boreholes.
Governor Yahaya assured that the budget prioritises impactful programmes, child nutrition, and integration of the Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM).
The governor acknowledged challenges such as rising costs, climate vulnerabilities, and increasing demands for public services. He outlined measures to enhance revenue generation, cut unnecessary spending, and mobilize private sector investments.
Yahaya urged the House to critically appraise and enrich the proposal, stating, “Together, we will continue to build a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Gombe State.”
