Gombe Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Tackling Malnutrition
The Gombe State Government has reiterated its commitment to sustaining progress in programmes targeting women and children while identifying innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
This assurance came from Ruth Edward Baka, the acting director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, during an end-of-the-year review meeting with UNICEF in Gombe.
According to Baka, the ministry is determined to align UNICEF’s planned activities with the state’s priorities across various sectors.
“We are here to coordinate planning and ensure that UNICEF’s activities align with the priorities of the state across all sectors,” Baka stated.
Her comments came as UNICEF’s Chief of Bauchi Field Office, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, urged the state to intensify efforts in key areas such as health service delivery, birth registration, nutrition, hygiene, education, and social behavioral change.
These efforts, Rafique noted, are crucial for improving the lives of mothers and children in the state.
The collaborative review meeting provided a platform to evaluate the challenges of malnutrition, food insecurity, and other pressing issues, with both parties seeking ways to achieve sustainable development goals for children in Gombe.
