Gombe Police Nab Lawmaker Over Stolen Transformer

In a surprising turn of events, the Gombe State Police Command has arrested a sitting councillor, Hon. Abdullahi Panda, alongside three others for allegedly stealing an electric transformer.

ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, revealed the news during a press briefing on Monday in Gombe. He stated that acting on a tip, police detectives apprehended the suspects while they were transporting the stolen transformer.

According to ASP Abdullahi, the transformer was taken from Garin Majidadi village. Further investigation showed it was sold to another suspect, Bello Ardo Kumo, for 1.5 million naira.

This arrest wasn’t the only success for Gombe police. Abdullahi also highlighted the apprehension of over 20 additional suspects connected to crimes ranging from homicide to armed robbery.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman, commended the public’s cooperation and urged residents to remain vigilant. He encouraged them to report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station.

“This incident involving a respected official sends a strong message that crime will be pursued regardless of social standing.

The Gombe State Police’s commitment to intelligence-led policing offers hope for a safer Gombe.
