The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on January 31, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where Hon. Tijjani is expected to be formally honoured alongside several prominent national figures. Among those to be recognised are the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, who will receive the Man of the Year award, Governor Siminalayi Fubara as Governor of the Year, and Gen. Adetokunbo Fayemiwo (rtd), recipient of the TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership. Also to be honoured is Mr. Charles Chuka Aniagolu of ARISE TV, named Lawrence Bilal Audu Journalist of the Year, alongside other distinguished awardees.

The event will hold under the distinguished chairmanship of Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), CFR, with the United States Ambassador to Nigeria serving as Special Guest of Honour and Award Presenter.

According to OurNigeria News Magazine, the selection of Hon. Tijjani followed a rigorous review by its editorial leadership and awards planning committee. The process focused on identifying emerging political leaders whose conduct reflects wisdom, moderation, justice, and a genuine commitment to the common good.

The organisers explained that the Plato Leadership Award for Emerging Politician of the Year is reserved for young political figures who demonstrate principled leadership and a clear vision for societal development—values closely associated with the philosophical ideals of Plato and considered critical to Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

In the nomination letter signed by the management of OurNigeria News, the organisation noted that Hon. Tijjani’s rising profile in public life, combined with his ethical approach to leadership and policy engagement, distinguished him as one of Nigeria’s promising political leaders.

The 7th OurNigeria News Awards, themed “Providing a Podium for Unsung Heroes,” forms part of the magazine’s annual initiative to celebrate Nigerians whose leadership, innovation, and service continue to make meaningful contributions to national development. The event is expected to attract policymakers, political leaders, business executives, media professionals, and other notable personalities from across the country.

OurNigeria News reaffirmed its commitment to spotlighting leaders who embody integrity, vision, and service, stressing that Hon. Mubarak Ahmed Tijjani’s nomination reflects its belief in nurturing and encouraging the next generation of responsible political leadership in Nigeria.
