Inauguration of 5th Board Marks a Promising Chapter at NAHCON

A significant milestone unfolded at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) when the inauguration of its fifth board, led by Chairman Malam Ahmad Arabi, took place on February 28, 2024.

His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, officiated the inauguration ceremony, held in the distinguished office of the Vice President. Subsequently, the Board Members assumed their duties at the Hajj House.
The Chairman, Malam Ahmad Arabi extended a warm welcome to the new Board Members during their inaugural meeting with the NAHCON management, expressing confidence in their capabilities. “What I can assure you is the staff’s cooperation, as an integral part of the the collaborative spirit needed to achieve the Commission’s goals,” Malam Ahmad Arabi said, calling upon the dedicated NAHCON staff to extend their unwavering support to the new leadership.
The newly appointed Board Members include:
1. Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi — Chairman
2. Aliu Abdulrazaq — Commissioner, Policy, Personnel, & Finance (PPMF)
3. Prince Anofi Elegushi — Commissioner, Operations
4. Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal — Commissioner, Planning & Research, Information Statistics, and Library Services
Zonal Representatives:
1. Dr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi — Board Member, North Central
2. Abba Jato Kala — Board Member, North East
3. Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman — Board Member, North West
4. Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe — Board Member, South West
5. Aishat Obi Ahmed — Board Member, South East
6. Zainab Musa — Board Member, South South
7. Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio — Board Member/Representative Jama’atul Nasril Islam
8. Professor Adedimizi Mahfouz Adebola — Representative/Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs.
Expressing gratitude, the new Board Members acknowledged the Chairman’s fatherly role and their warm reception. Each member pledged their support to Chairman Malam Ahmad Arabi, vowing to contribute to the success of the Commission. They also expressed appreciation for the privilege to serve and sought guidance in their new roles.
In his closing remarks, Dr Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora, the Secretary of the Commission, commended the intellectual prowess of the new Board Members. He characterised the 5th Board as a new chapter for NAHCON, highlighting their diverse expertise and experience. Dr. Kontagora expressed optimism that the skills and knowledge of the new leadership would be devoted to the service of Allah, the federal government of Nigeria, and the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
