INEC Officials Face Transportation Crisis in Kogi State Governorship Election

In preparation for Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, including corps members and ad-hoc staff, found themselves stranded at the Ajayi Crowther Memorial School in Lokoja LGA.
The officials, responsible for conducting the election across various polling units, expressed concern over the lack of transportation to reach their assigned locations after receiving electoral materials.
Reportedly, only three minibuses were available to transport more than 200 electoral officials, creating logistical challenges and delays in the election process.
This setback unfolded against the backdrop of the off-cycle governorship election, with an anticipated 1.8 million registered voters set to participate.
The election is scheduled to take place in 3,508 polling units across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State, including Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi, Lokoja, Mopamuro, Ofu, Ogori-Magongo, Okene, Okehi, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba-East, and Yagba-West.
