Comptroller Abubakar gave the charge on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, while declaring open a Workshop on Reputation Management for officers and personnel of the Command, organised in compliance with a directive from NCS Headquarters.

Welcoming participants, the CAC commended the Comptroller-General of Customs and the Service’s management team for prioritising character and conduct alongside revenue generation and enforcement.

“Our reputation determines the level of trust the public has in us and the confidence of stakeholders in our operations. Once damaged, reputation is difficult to restore; however, when carefully nurtured, it becomes a powerful tool for effectiveness and legitimacy,” she stated.

She cautioned that in an era of heightened public scrutiny and rapid information sharing, the actions of individual officers—both on and off duty—can significantly impact the image of the Service.

Highlighting the Command’s performance, Comptroller Abubakar disclosed that the LFTZ Command recorded a remarkable revenue collection of ₦724.39 billion in 2025, compared to ₦359.06 billion in the previous year, representing an increase of about 101.74 percent.

She attributed the achievement to the dedication and professionalism of officers and men of the Command, noting that sustained revenue growth is closely linked to maintaining transparency and discipline.

“This remarkable achievement reflects our collective commitment. However, sustainable progress depends on our reputation as a professional and transparent Service,” she added.

Senior officers of the Command, including the Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Abiola Abdullahi-Lagos, delivered presentations on operational transparency, professionalism, leadership, communication, institutional values, and crisis and reputational risk management.

Participants at the workshop commended NCS management for the initiative and pledged to uphold the Service’s values while serving as worthy ambassadors in their daily conduct and interactions.
