...Praises Peaceful Conduct of Exercise; Expresses Confidence in APC's Sweeping Victory

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya , has joined other voters on Saturday to cast his vote in the the council elections conducted across the 11 local government areas of the State.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya cast his ballot at his polling unit ( Yahaya Umaru 010) in Jekadafari ward of Gombe local government around 11:15 am, alongside hundreds of voters who converged to participate in the exercise.

Addressing newsmen shortly after casting his vote, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed satisfaction that the election adhered to best practices, ensuring a level playing field for all political parties to participate in the process.

The Governor noted that the exercise provided the people of the state with the opportunity to choose their local government and ward leadership in accordance with democratic principles and the law.

“You can see that people queued up early to exercise their right to vote, and I joined them in casting my ballot. I am delighted to see that the process is going on smoothly and peacefully here and throughout the state based on the situation reports I have received. It is essential to ensure a fair electoral process for the sake of our democracy, which is why we have provided a level playing field for all political parties. Even opposition parties are participating in this election”, the Governor said.

“This exercise holds great significance as it allows our citizens to select their leaders at both the local government and ward levels. Given our government’s achievements, I am confident that the people will support our party. The joy evident on their faces indicates that they are with the APC, and I am optimistic that our party will secure victory in all the seats contested in this election”, the Governor added.

The Governor also commended the electoral body (GOSIEC) and security operatives for their efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the local council election, praising the electoral body for its adherence to best practices, which facilitated a fair and transparent electoral process.

Reacting to a question regarding the process for aggrieved parties seeking to challenge the election results, Governor Inuwa Yahaya disclosed that already a Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal has been established to entertain any complaints or grievances that may emerge from the conduct of the election.

He urged the people of the state to maintain calm and exhibit good conduct while awaiting the election results.
