The newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has outlined a clear strategic vision for Nigeria’s defence sector, anchored on three interconnected pillars, as he formally assumed duty.

The Minister also emphasized welfare and morale as a force multiplier, stressing that the effectiveness of the military is closely tied to the well-being of its personnel. He pledged to prioritise the timely provision of modern equipment, prompt payment of operational allowances, and improved accommodation and medical care for service members and their families.
The third pillar of his agenda centres on intelligence-driven and technology-enabled defence. According to him, modern warfare demands data-led planning and operations, supported by advanced technology, strengthened intelligence gathering, enhanced surveillance systems, and strategic partnerships.
General Musa, who was recently appointed Minister of Defence, reaffirmed his commitment to building a professional, motivated, and technologically advanced military capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and addressing evolving security challenges.
