Miss Buratai’s first art exhibition, A Hint of Yellow

Miss Aishatu Tukur Buratai, an undergraduate student at Turkish Nile University, Abuja, and an innately gifted artist, has launched an exhibition of her work in Abuja on Saturday.

Miss Buratai is the daughter of Ambassador TY Buratai, the former Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army. She is a self-taught artist who believes that “art is life and life is art,” and that when emotions are expressed effectively through art, inner peace results.

                                        

The exhibition, titled ” A Hint of Yellow,” features numerous paintings featuring the sun as a recurring symbol of brightness and boldness.

“The Hint of Yellow” alludes to her consistent use of yellow and red throughout the greater part of her work. Miss Buratai is passionate about environmental degradation, animal welfare, and nature, which inspired her.

Speaking during the occasion at No.18 Tennessee Crescent, Maitama, Abuja on Saturday the Chairman of the occasion, Dr Manzo Ahmed who delivered the welcome address, warmly and sincerely welcome the gathering to a special event with the theme “A Hint of Yellow”, “at her instance, we were all invited to be here this afternoon, to look at, admire and appreciate her wonderful works of art and, in the process of doing so, give her the required encouragement, push and support that would enable this young and promising Artist to take her wonderful works of creativity to greater heights.

“Therefore, I urge all of us here today, and even those who are not able to be present here with us, to try and discharge this encouraging role with all the zeal and seriousness that it deserves, so as to place Miss

“Aishatu Tukur Buratai on the right pedestal, to become one of the finest Artists Nigeria would ever produce.”

Air Vice-Marshal K Aliyu, Director, Earth Observation Defense Space Administration, presided over the exhibition, while Professor Osman Nuri Uri Aras, Vice-Chancellor, Nile University, served as Special Guest of Honor.

Miss Buratai is a mixed media artist who primarily works with oil on canvas.

Additionally, the artist’s photographs were on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition drew the crème de la crème of Abuja, as well as numerous well-wishers and family members of the budding artists. Guests who attended the exhibition stayed until the evening to tour the exhibition gallery.
