A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, led by the Honourable Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State and later to the Emir of Argungu ArgunguHis Royal Highness Alhaji Samaila M. Mera CON as part of activities marking the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
The delegation, which included the Permanent Secretary and the Director General of the (NTDA), was received at the Emir’s Palace by His Royal Highness.
The visit underscored the enduring relevance and wisdom of Nigeria’s traditional institutions, while providing an avenue for strategic dialogue on strengthening collaboration to further position Argungu and Nigeria on the global tourism map. Discussions centred on heritage preservation, cultural promotion, and sustainable tourism development.
From the palace, the delegation proceeded to the , where the Emir personally led a guided tour. He offered detailed insights into the priceless artefacts that chronicle the history, heroes, and cultural identity of the emirate, bringing each exhibit to life with rich historical context.
Members of the delegation expressed deep appreciation for the Emir’s rare gesture and commended his passion for preserving the legacy of his people.
The NTDA extended sincere gratitude to His Royal Highness and the people of Kebbi State for their warm hospitality. Officials noted that the visit reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s cultural heritage and strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions to enhance the global visibility and sustainability of the nation’s tourism and cultural assets.
