NAF: Our airstrikes kill terrorists, destroy gun trucks in Borno, Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force says the air elements of operations Hadin Kai and Hadarin Daji have destroyed many terrorists in their hideouts throughout the theatres.

The NAF provided this information in a statement issued by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the organization’s director of public relations and information, on Sunday in Abuja.

In the early hours of Saturday, the air component, according to Gabkwet, conducted air interdiction missions at a recently discovered terrorist hideout at Bukar Meram, close to the Lake Chad region in Borno State.

He said it was determined that the recent movement of terrorists from Suwa to the approximate vicinity of Bukar Meram was in preparation for a potential resumption of attacks on ground forces and defenseless civilians, necessitating the strikes.

According to him, air strikes were authorized at the location in Bukar Meram to decimate the terrorists.

“Feedback received after the strikes revealed the expected outcome was achieved as several terrorists were neutralized while over 40 motorcycles and six gun trucks were destroyed,” he said.

According to the NAF spokesman, similar airstrikes against terrorists were conducted by Operation Haradin Daji’s air component on October 11 in and around the Sangeko axis of Maru LGA in Zamfara State.

The terrorists, he claimed, were traveling in a convoy of roughly 70 motorcycles on the road from Kabaro to Sangeko. He claimed that after engaging with numerous terrorists and neutralizing them, their motorcycles were destroyed and other terrorists were hurt.

According to Gabkwet, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, has praised the commitment and professionalism of the air components.

He quoted Abubakar as saying, “Your efforts and support to the ground troops is commendable. Stay focused and do not be complacent as we must continue to give our citizens the confidence they deserve to thrive.
