The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasised the enduring tribute owed to fallen colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Nigeria.
He conveyed this sentiment today, March 16, 2023, during the NAF Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Medical and Humanitarian outreach program at NAF Base, Asokoro Abuja. CAS Abubakar urged well-meaning Nigerians to support widows and dependents of deceased NAF personnel, especially women, children, and the marginalized.
“NAF’s is committed to the welfare of families of fallen heroes,” he said outlining initiatives such as the Group Personal Accident Insurance policy and educational sponsorships for children of personnel who die in active service. He encouraged widows to utilise these benefits for the education of their children, reassuring them of the NAF’s ongoing support.
Architect (Mrs) Rakiya Abubakar, the National President of NAFOWA, reiterated the association’s unwavering dedication to supporting NAF personnel and their families. She highlighted the outreach’s focus on providing medical checkups, essential services, and provisions to 100 widows of NAF Fallen Heroes. Mrs. Abubakar emphasised NAFOWA’s commitment to service to humanity and called for collective action in uplifting and empowering those in need.
She expressed gratitude to partners, volunteers, and supporters for their contributions, citing recent efforts in Kano and Enugu that impacted over 1,350 individuals through wheelchair distribution, food donations, and medical outreaches.
The event was attended by senior officers from NAF headquarters and representatives from various women organisations across the Armed Forces and para-military organisations.
