Nigerian lawyer and public policy expert, Nabila Aguele, has assumed office as Chief Executive Officer of the Malala Fund, making history as the first Nigerian to lead the global organisation.

Her appointment took effect on April 1, 2026, following a planned succession after outgoing CEO Lena Alfi stepped down after nearly nine years at the helm.
Aguele previously led Malala Fund’s Nigerian operations and is now tasked with steering the organisation’s global strategy on girls’ education and advocacy.
With over two decades of experience in law, governance, and international development, Aguele is recognised as a leading voice on gender equality and educational empowerment worldwide.
