Northern Governors’ Forum Expresses Grief Over the Passing of Ondo Governor, Akeredolu
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and citizens of Ondo State following the demise of Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) after a prolonged illness.
Governor Yahaya, speaking on behalf of the 19 northern governors, mourn the loss of “a senior figure, friend, resilient advocate, and a visionary leader whose attributes of excellence and remarkable brilliance positively influenced the transformation of Ondo State and contributed to the development of the country.”

The Northern Governors Forum acknowledges late Governor Akeredolu’s influential roles in various capacities, recognising his legacies as a lawyer, former Attorney General, NBA President, and his leadership positions in regional organisations. This includes serving as the chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and the Southern Governors’ Forum.
“We mourn the loss of our dear brother and friend, Governor Akeredolu. This is indeed a national loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Excellency, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the entire immediate family members, the Owo community, and the people of Ondo State over this monumental loss.”
