Osun 2026; Olowu of Owu-Kuta enjoins politicians to shun campaign of calumny

A revered traditional ruler in Osun State, the Olowu of Owu-Kuta, Oba Adekunle Hameed Oyelude Makama, has urged politicians to shun campaign of calumny, especially ahead of August 15th Governorship election in the state so as to ensure peace and stability.

Oba Makama who made this known on Sunday while speaking at the annual Ramadan lecture he organized in his palace, urged politicians to focus on issue based campaign rather than engaging in a campaign of bitterness.

The Olowu of Owu-Kuta urged the political class to abide by ethical standards and prioritize unity over destructive political propaganda.

The traditional ruler who admonished politicians to play politics with the fear of God, maturity and decorum said, it is the only way to ensure free, fair, and credible elections poll as well as the peace, unity and socio-economic prosperity of Nigeria.

Oba Makama cautioned candidates in the August 15th Governorship election in the state to embrace peace, and shun violence before, during and after the election, saying they should all play the game according to the rules and eschew violence.

Oba Makama also urged youths in his domain and entire state at large to shun thuggery before and during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
