Osun govt warns against dirty environment

In order to retain cleanliness and ensure residents imbibe a healthy lifestyle, the Osun state government has warned against a dirty environment and called for the protection of the environment for the safety of lives and property.
The state government gave this warning through the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke of the state on Environment and Sanitation, Hon Babatunde Adeniyi Balogun, on Sunday during a telephone chat with our Correspondent while speaking on this year’s “Global Hand Washing Day”.
Hon Balogun said that for the government to ensure that residents of the state practice good sanitary habits, the state Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has frowned at the situation where people dispose of refuse indiscriminately along the median and other unlawful places.

The Special Adviser who informed the residents to ensure refuse is bagged and kept in designated and authorized locations for the refuse dumping vehicle to pick up the refuse, assured that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s led government in Osun will not relent in providing an enabling environment.
Hon Balogun said the development would justify the status of the state as a model for cleanliness and development.
Hon Balogun stressed that a clean environment contributes to the well-being of its citizens and that Osun State people are known for their exceptional cleanliness, vowing that the State will emerge as the cleanest and most environmentally attractive State in the Country.
“I want to call on our Iya lojas and Baba lojas as well to educate their market men and women to always tidy their shops and places where they are selling goods as we are in the rainy season while they should not dump refuse into the stream in order to avert flood disaster in the state,” the Special Adviser added.
