Oyo Assembly impeaches Deputy Governor

The Oyo State House of Assembly has announced the impeachment of the State Deputy Governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan.
The announcement was made on Monday following the adoption of the recommendations of the report of the Seven man panel set up to investigate allegations leveled against the Deputy Governor.
Reports have it that there has been a long standing feud between the two Engineers steering the ship of leadership in Oyo State for some time now.

The feud culminated in Governor Seyi Makinde giving Engr. Olaniyan quit the Governor’s office which houses the Deputy Governor’s office as he relocated the office of Deputy Governor to the state Ministry of Environment early in the year.
The Deputy Governor later defected to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

The Panel report was read by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin.
The House had earlier served the deputy governor with a notice of impeachment over alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office, financial recklessness, among others, following his defection from PDP to APC.
