Peter Okoye, Reveals His Biggest Fear Despite Fame, Fortune

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P of the legendary PSquare duo, has opened up about his deepest fear — poverty. Despite his global success, awards, and wealth, the superstar says nothing terrifies him more than returning to the hardship he once knew.

Mr P made the revelation on The Nancy Isime Show on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, where he shared emotional memories from his childhood. He described growing up in a cramped home where his parents and eight siblings lived together in a single room, separated only by a curtain.

He recalled an especially traumatic moment when their landlord sold the building without warning. The family was forced out as the house was demolished, leaving them suddenly homeless.

With visible emotion, Mr P said:
“I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty — of being broke. That fear comes from my experience, not imagination.”

The singer explained that these early struggles shaped his mindset, work ethic, and relentless drive to secure a better life for his family. His story has since resonated deeply with fans, sparking conversations on resilience, financial security, and the long-lasting effects of childhood hardship.
