The decision was made public by the Waziri of Rano, Alaramma Kabir Sani, during a youth programme organised by the Rano Local Government Shariah Islamic Council. The event was held at the palace of the Emir of Rano.
According to the Waziri, the ban is part of efforts to uphold moral values and preserve the religious and cultural traditions of the emirate. He stressed that music and entertainment at social events must align with Islamic principles and the long-standing customs of the Rano people.
Alaramma Kabir Sani urged youths and event organisers to comply with the directive, warning that activities considered contrary to Islamic teachings would no longer be tolerated within the emirate. He added that the council would work with relevant authorities to ensure strict enforcement of the ban.
The announcement has sparked discussions among residents, with supporters describing the move as a step toward moral reform, while others have raised concerns about its impact on modern social celebrations within the emirate.
