Raudha: The Life, Dreams, Tragic Mystery of the Maldives
In 2014, Raudha Mohamed, a young girl from the Maldives, captured the world’s attention with her striking blue eyes and photogenic charm. At just 18, her images went viral, earning her modeling offers and even a Vogue India cover in 2016. Yet behind the fame, Raudha had a far bigger dream: to become a doctor like her father.

Born in 1996, Raudha grew up in a supportive family that allowed her to pursue modeling while prioritizing her education. Her passion for medicine earned her a scholarship to study in Bangladesh, a country with stricter dress codes. While she adhered to local customs at college, her natural beauty and charisma still drew attention.
Despite her success and joyful persona, Raudha’s life took a tragic turn. In March 2017, while studying abroad, she was found dead in her dorm room at the age of 21. Authorities ruled it a suicide, citing messages left behind expressing heartbreak following a breakup.
However, her family and many others question this conclusion. Her father, a doctor, raised concerns about the circumstances of her death, including doubts over whether the fan could support her weight and why the dorm door showed no signs of forced entry. Raudha had confided to her mother a week before that she suspected someone had tampered with her drink. Her brother, Rayyan, insists that Raudha, always full of life, would not have taken her own life.
The aftermath of her death added layers to the mystery. Her Instagram account was mysteriously unfollowing users before being deleted, and international investigations, including by 60 Minutes Australia, faced barriers in Bangladesh. Questions remain about whether the official story tells the full truth.
Raudha’s story is one of brilliance, ambition, and a life that captured hearts across the globe — yet also a haunting reminder of the fragility of life and the unanswered questions that sometimes shadow young talent gone too soon.
