Rerun: ICCES assures adequate security, violence-free elections in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) has assured adequate security and credible and violence-free rerun elections scheduled for Saturday 3 February 2024 in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled elections into four State House of Assembly constituencies of Bauchi, Zungur/Galambi, Madara/Chinade and Ningi.

This is contained in a statement signed by Aliyu Hassan Shaaba, Acting Head, Department of Voter Education of the Commission and made available to Journalists in Bauchi.

He assured that adequate security arrangements and credible and violence-free elections would be conducted for the rerun in the state.

According to him, Resident Electoral Commissioner Bauchi State, Alh. Muhammad B. Nura met with the members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) today Wednesday 24 January 2024.

“They mapped out security strategies for peaceful Rerun elections scheduled for Saturday 3 February 2024.

He explained that the Commissioner of Police as Co-chairman and all other members were in attendance.

“They pledged to work assiduously to ensure the security of ad-hoc personnel and election materials as well as voters before, during and after the elections.

“They further enjoined eligible voters to go out and exercise their franchise by electing representatives of their choice in the four State House of Assembly constituencies,” he said

He called on political parties to play by the rules and avoid thuggery and other activities that breed violence during campaigns and elections,” he said.
