Timothy Musa Gwabin, fondly known as “Timmy Darling,” was laid to rest today, Saturday, after a lifetime of dedication to his family, faith, and community.
The elder brother of Nigeria’s Chief Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa Gwabin, Timothy, was remembered not just for his blood ties but also for his unwavering support, patience, and infectious smile.
Born in Sokoto in 1963, Timothy was a teacher for 35 years with the Sokoto State Primary Education Board. Those who knew him spoke of his love for children and his passion for education. In his free time, Timothy enjoyed playing football, travelling, and meeting new people.
Speaking during the burial, Chief of Defence Staff General Christophe Gwabin Musa remembered his brother as a beacon of love and support.
“In every sense of the word, he epitomised the virtues of selflessness, tolerance, and always placing others before himself,” the general said.
He described Timothy’s patience as “incredible” and his ability to forgive as a rare quality that made him a cherished friend and confidant.
Sister Lydia Kalat Musa echoed these sentiments, calling Timothy “our rock, our protector, and our biggest cheerleader.” She said the nickname “Timmy Darling” was a testament to the “affection and admiration we all felt for him.”
Timothy’s legacy extends beyond his immediate family; he is remembered by friends and extended family as a loving, patient, and selfless man who guided and inspired those around him. His passing leaves a void, but his memory will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration.
