Sophie Momodu Files ₦1bn Lawsuit Against Davido Over Alleged Defamatory Posts
Legal representatives of Sophie Momodu have filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against music star David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido, alleging defamation arising from posts reportedly made about her on social media platforms.

According to court documents, Momodu’s lawyer is seeking monetary damages, a public apology, and a formal retraction of the alleged statements published on Twitter (X) and Instagram. The suit contends that the posts were injurious to her reputation and caused emotional distress.
As of the time of reporting, Davido has not issued an official response to the lawsuit. The case is expected to test legal boundaries around celebrity speech and reputational rights in Nigeria’s growing digital public sphere.
