“Stay away from Kebbi – Police Commissioner Warns Bandits

The Commissioner in charge of Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) CP Adeleke Adeyinka has on Sunday warned bandits and other criminals terrorizing Zamfara and other North-western states to stay away from Kebbi.

According to the CP, the Police in the state are ready to face the criminals. However, he called on the vigilante groups in the state to join hands and work with the police towards curtailing insecurity in the state.

The CP who made the call while receiving 10 Hilux vehicles and 30 Motorcycles donated to the Police by the government of Kebbi said: “I want to appeal to our friends, the vigilante groups, they are just to assist us, they are not to cause problem for us. If we work together, we will not quarrel,” the CP said.

According to a statement that was issued by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser (SA) Media to the State Governor, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the donation was necessitated by the commitment of his administration to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.

The Governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Major Garba Rabi’u Kamba (rtd) assured that the state government would not rest on its oars in ensuring that law abiding citizens’ in the state sleeps with their eyes closed.

The Governor acknowledged that the menace of insecurity such as banditry, kidnappings and cattle rustling, among other criminal in the North-west, saying the State is also taking part in the trend.

Sen. Bagudu said: “This ugly trend, was more prevalent in the southern axis of the state, especially in Zuru and Yauri Emirates”.

The Governor decried the obnoxious rise of the formation of self-appointed vigilante groups, “Yan Sakai,” in the same southern axis of the state.
