He made this statement during courtesy visits to the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Musa Farouk Boyi, and the Commissioner of Police (CP) for Borno State Police Command, ML Yusufu, on 15 February 2024.
Gen Shaibu noted that the complex security situation in the NE required teamwork and collaboration, and that security agencies must work jointly to create an enabling environment for law-abiding citizens.
The NSCDC Commandant, Boyi, welcomed the Theatre Commander’s visit and acknowledged the good working relationship between the Corps, the military, and other security agencies. He emphasised that the society faces an asymmetric war triggered by insurgency, which cannot be handled by the military alone.
Similarly, the CP Yusufu described the relationship between the police and the military in Borno as cordial and effective. He said that internal security operations were jointly conducted and that synergy had helped restore sanity in the state.
Gen Shaibu appealed for more synergy among all security agencies in the NE, and urged the police to continue to work closely with the military and other security agencies to solve the security challenges.
The visits included presentations of quarter guard, signing of visitor’s books, exchange of mementos, and group photographs. Senior officers from Headquarters Theatre Command, NSCDC, and the police Command were in attendance.
