Tinubu Appoints New PTDF Boss, Renews TCN MD’s Tenure
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

Aliyu replaces Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who recently resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a related development, the President also approved the renewal of Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz’s appointment as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term.
Both appointments take immediate effect.
Before his appointment, Professor Aliyu served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He is widely regarded as a seasoned academic and administrator with extensive experience in education, research, and institutional leadership.
The Presidency said his appointment reflects a commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and advancing human capital development within Nigeria’s energy industry. He is expected to reposition PTDF to deliver greater impact in innovation, capacity building, and strategic support for the oil and gas sector.
Meanwhile, the renewal of Abdulaziz’s tenure followed a performance review of his leadership at TCN. Under his stewardship, the company has recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and system modernisation.
Abdulaziz, who has over three decades of experience in the power sector, has also contributed to regional electricity integration through his role in the West African Power Pool.
President Tinubu urged both appointees to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of national service in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
