Two Arrested for Attempted Drug Smuggling into Akure Custodial Centre
Two individuals, identified as Isaac Nimjul from Langtang North and Jennifer Yaro from Jos South, both of Plateau State, have been arrested for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the Akure Custodial Centre in Ondo State.

The suspects, who were visiting an inmate at the Olokuta Prisons facility, were apprehended by officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service while trying to gain access to the custodial centre. The illicit substance, identified as Indian hemp, was allegedly concealed inside fresh tomatoes intended for delivery to an inmate in custody.
According to officials, the suspicious items were discovered during routine security checks at the entry point of the facility, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspects.
Following their arrest, Isaac Nimjul and Jennifer Yaro were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with relevant laws.
The Nigerian Correctional Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict security measures across all custodial centres to prevent the introduction of prohibited items and ensure the safety and orderliness of facilities nationwide.
