Two Journalists, Families Kidnapped in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the kidnapping of two journalists and their families late Saturday night. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the Danhono 2, Millennium City area of Kaduna.

Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer for the command, told newsmen that efforts were underway to rescue the victims. “We have deployed our operatives into the bush where the kidnappers are suspected to be in the area,” he stated.

The victims include AbdulGafar Alabelewe, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Kaduna State NUJ Council, and three of his family members. AbdulGafar is also a correspondent for The Nation Newspaper. Additionally, Abdulraheem Aodo, a correspondent for Blueprint Newspaper, and his wife were kidnapped at the same location.

Hassan assured that the police are doing their utmost to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped individuals.
