U-19 cricket tournament: Title-holders Oyo warn others after beating Osun
The Oyo State team on Thursday underlined their intention to successfully defend their South-West Under-19 Cricket Tournament title by beating their Osun counterparts and warning the rest of the field.
In their opening match at the third edition of the competition also known as the “Jide Bademosi Cup competition”, the defending champions won with eight wickets.

The game played at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan saw Osun making 46 runs in 20 overs while Oyo state scored 49 in 10 overs.
Team captain Kayode Komolafe later told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that his team have vowed to retain their title.
He added that their plan was to win each match in the series as they come.
Komolafe said they were fully prepared and ready for what comes ahead as every team at the tournament is a potential winner.
“It won’t be an easy competition because every team wants to win. We have a plan and the plan is to ensure that we win each of our games. This will enable us to emerge victoriously.
“With God and luck on our side we will achieve this,” Komolafe said.
Johnson Idakwo, the team’s coach, also said his players were prepared and motivated to emerge victoriously.
Idakwo said his cricketers had for three months prior to the competition been in an open camp.
“We are not underrating any team because they are all top contenders. At the last edition, we played in the final against Lagos and it was a tough one.
“We beat Lagos narrowly because it was a tough match. Even at this edition, Lagos has come with a tough team and their captain is in the national team.
“Some of Lagos’ representatives are even playing in Division 2 of the Cricket League. Lagos has experienced players and is a top contender, but my players are ready to take them on,” he said.
