Zulum reads riot act to workers, Civilian JTF
Tada Jutha, Maiduguri
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has tasked Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and civil servants to work hard to change the narratives.
According to him, the change in narratives will ensure transparency and accountability to the people they serve.
Zulum gave the tasks at the weekend to mark Democracy Day and two years anniversary in Maiduguri, the state capital.
He said that what matters is not his second term in office by 2023, but to perform “effectively and efficiently” to serve humanity at all levels.
While speaking on workers performances, he warned that; “Any civil servant, including any of commissioners that do not perform to the satisfaction of the people of Borno, should not be given the chance to serve.”
Members of the Civilian JTF, were yesterday not spared of the riot act read to Borno workers and their commissioners.
He said that the Civilian JTF members should also tighten their belts for a new operation at Malam Fatori, the council headquarters of Abadam.
The no go Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state, are Guzamala and Abadam, two border communities to the Niger Republic.
“The only way we can defeat the insurgents is for us to become resilient enough,” he said, noting that even though there are challenges of funding and outstanding gratuities and pension of N5 billion, the terrorists are to be defeated.
He said besides acquiring two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), 20 more are to be procured to fight an insurgency that has claimed many lives and property in the state.
