Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has hailed the annual Zuma International Film Festival as a dynamic avenue for collaboration, inspiration, and cultural exchange.
She made the remarks during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday to unveil the festival’s 2024 edition and its logo. Scheduled to take place from Dec. 1 to Dec. 5, the event will focus on the theme, “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future.”
According to Mahmoud, the festival will not only highlight diverse global narratives but also showcase film’s ability to challenge perspectives and spark meaningful change.
“This festival is not just a showcase of cinematic creativity. It is a vibrant platform that builds collaboration, inspiration, and cultural exchange,” she stated. “In a world increasingly shaped by visual storytelling, our contributions are vital in bridging cultures and igniting conversation.”
The minister expressed her hope that the festival would continue to have a lasting impact on the film industry. “Let us embrace this opportunity to honour our collective passion for the arts, support one another, and celebrate the remarkable talent that each of us brings to the screen,” she added.
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement at the FCT Administration, also expressed optimism about the event.
Speaking through her representative, Ms. Catherine Allison, Ahmadu praised the minister’s support, saying, “Together, we will pave the way for a vibrant future in filmmaking and storytelling. Let’s continue to inspire one another as we celebrate the power of film.”
