2024 Osun-Osogbo Festival: Government assures tourists of adequate security

As this year Osun-Osogbo festival is approaching, the Osun State Government has said it has put in place necessary machineries in ensuring adequate security before, during and after the annual festival.

This was made known on Wednesday by the State Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Hon Abiodun Ojo while fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo the capital of Osun State on the activities of his Ministry in the last one year.

Hon Ojo who said that efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke of the state towards the protection of life and property cannot be over emphasised said adequate security during this festival is guarantee saying government has perfected arrangements on that.

The Osun Commissioner for Tourism and Culture added that the government is working towards necessary arrangements to ensure proper management and control of crowd during the grand finale of the festival which is expected to hold in August.

According to Hon Ojo, the state government would make the environment conducive for social and economic activities adding that there will be easy flow of traffic while appealing to all the tourists from across the world who will participate in the festival to conduct themselves well.

The Commissioner who described Osun Osogbo as one of the tourist centres having the biggest natural forest with an expansion of land that has not been charged for long, stated that everything is set to take the festival to the next level by digitising it for promotion.

Hon Ojo, who reiterated efforts of the state government to boosts its internally generated revenue through tourism said they would continue to promote the tourist centers in Osun as well as culture and tradition.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke’s led administration in Osun is trying all it’s best to provide enabling environment for tourist sites to boost state economy while our government has identified all our tourist centres, but we can do it only one after the other. We have about 60 tourist centres in Osun today but the major ones are 16” he concluded.
