The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong, has received royal blessings from the Emir of Wase, HRH Alhaji Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, for his aspiration to return to the Senate in 2027.

Senator Lalong, who was received by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, arrived at the Emir’s Palace amidst jubilation alongside members of his entourage.

Addressing the royal father and the people of Wase, Senator Lalong expressed profound appreciation for their consistent support and loyalty over the years, describing it as invaluable and deeply encouraging.

He particularly thanked the Emir for maintaining a sincere, honest, and dependable relationship with him over the years, built on trust, openness, and mutual respect.

The Senator said his visit to the palace was to formally seek royal blessings ahead of the 2027 elections as he pursues another term in the Senate.

Lalong stated that he has continued to facilitate projects and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people across Plateau South, with particular attention to the needs of Wase Local Government Area.

He further appreciated the love and goodwill shown to him by the people of Wase and expressed optimism that such support would again be demonstrated during the APC primaries and the general elections.

Responding, the Emir of Wase described Senator Lalong as a true son of Wase who remains loved, respected, and widely accepted by both the Royal Court and the entire people of the emirate.

The royal father recalled the overwhelming support given to Senator Lalong from his emergence as Governor of Plateau State in 2015 up to his election into the Senate.

The Emir commended Senator Lalong for his passion for peace, unity, and stability, noting that his contributions in those areas continue to serve as reference points years after leaving office as Governor.

Alhaji Haruna also appreciated Senator Lalong for facilitating appointments for sons and daughters of Wase into various federal positions, thereby expanding opportunities for the people.

He further praised the Senator for sponsoring and championing the Traditional Rulers Bill at the 10th Senate, noting that the legislation would significantly strengthen the role of traditional institutions in governance and national development.

The Emir thereafter offered prayers for Senator Lalong and urged his subjects to consider his track record and achievements as they prepare for future elections.
