In a significant health intervention, the Tukur and Tukur Foundation, in collaboration with the Immaculate Heart Multispecialty Hospital and the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri, spearheaded a three-day free medical mission that brought relief to residents of Aguleri. The mission, conducted from January 6th to 8th, catered to the health needs of over 844 individuals of various age groups.

Common health challenges such as malaria, typhoid, pneumonia, and high blood pressure were identified during the medical outreach, underscoring the necessity for enhanced access to preventive measures and quality healthcare within the community.

“The lives of Aguleri residents have been touched,” emphasised the hospital management in a statement addressed to His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State, and Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, his wife. “The Foundation continues to touch lives!”

The statement expressed profound gratitude to the Obiano family for facilitating the outreach and acknowledged the Tukur and Tukur Foundation for its invaluable humanitarian service. Special commendation was extended to the dedicated healthcare team, comprised of doctors, nurses, and specialists, who volunteered their time and expertise to make the mission a success.

Beyond the immediate medical relief, the mission also focused on broader health-related aspects. Recognising the impact of lifestyle factors on health outcomes, the medical team advocated for increased health education, promotion of preventative practices, and addressed social issues such as domestic violence through counselling.

To ensure a sustained positive impact on the community’s health, the hospital management proposed ongoing health education initiatives and periodic medical missions. The holistic approach aimed not only to treat existing health issues but also to empower the community with knowledge for long-term well-being.

The mission, which occurred on the sideline of the conferment of a chieftaincy tittle on Ambassador Tukur Buratai, underscored the Chief of Army Staff’s commitment to community development and humanitarian causes.

The free medical mission in Aguleri serves as a testament to the transformative impact that collaborative efforts and humanitarian initiatives can have on the lives of individuals and communities.
