President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and reassure families of the abducted schoolgirls that the Federal Government is taking decisive action to ensure their safe and speedy return.
The President, who was fully briefed by military authorities on both the abduction in Kebbi and the killing of gallant troops in Borno State, expressed deep sorrow over the incidents.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Nigerian Armed Forces following the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers who lost their lives while confronting insurgents in Borno.

“As the Commander-in-Chief, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our other fallen heroes,” the President said.
He also decried the kidnapping of students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu LGA, describing the attack as heartless and unacceptable.
President Tinubu noted that intelligence had indicated a possible bandit strike and commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for his efforts to avert the incident. He directed security agencies to act swiftly and return the girls safely to their families.
“We cannot allow terrorists to continue disrupting the education of innocent children. I have instructed all relevant security agencies to move with speed and bring the girls back home,” he stated.
The President emphasized that the effectiveness of the security forces depends heavily on community cooperation. He urged traditional rulers, local leaders, and residents—particularly in high-risk areas—to share timely intelligence that can assist the military, police, and DSS in securing their communities.
“Our security forces cannot succeed without the support of Nigerians. I urge community leaders and compatriots across the country to share useful information. Your cooperation is crucial in overcoming these security challenges,” President Tinubu said.
Vice President Shettima is expected to meet with state authorities, visit the affected community, and convey the President’s assurance of unwavering Federal Government support.
