A woman from Mombasa has gone public with a deeply emotional account of how an encounter from her past continues to shape her life, including her current struggle with infertility. Her story, shared as a cautionary message, highlights the risks many young women face when navigating relationships and financial vulnerabilities.
Raised by her grandmother after her mother remarried when she was just three years old, she grew up determined to pursue a better life. After gaining admission to college, financial pressures pushed her into sex work, which she said provided a comfortable lifestyle and significant daily earnings at the time.
According to her, the turning point came when she met a man who offered her money and promised to secure a “legitimate job” for her. Trusting his words, she became emotionally and physically involved with him. She later discovered, to her shock, that he was allegedly involved in ritual practices and intended to manipulate her for illegal activities.
Fearful and confused, she found herself pregnant by him. Driven by terror over what she believed he was capable of, she decided to terminate the pregnancy. She moved on with her life, eventually got married, and hoped for a fresh start.
However, years later, when she believed she was finally expecting a child with her husband, hospital tests revealed that there was no baby—only fluid collected in her stomach. Medical staff informed her she was not pregnant. She now believes her past choices, particularly the relationship with the alleged ritualist, are responsible for her inability to conceive.
