The tenant, who shared his frustration on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the apartment in question doesn’t even have a POP ceiling, leaving him shocked at the new price.

According to him, his rent expires in March, yet the landlord informed him of the drastic increment without prior notice.

“My landlord in PH just called this morning and he has increased to ₦1.8m for 2 bed wey no be POP. Rent expires in March and he is telling me this morning. From ₦800k to ₦1.8m,” he wrote.

Overwhelmed by the unexpected hike, he hinted that he might relocate to his father’s vacant three-bedroom house in Aba rather than struggle to meet the new amount.

“Landlords go kill us for that town. My papa still get 3 bed for Aba wey nobody dey stay. I am going home,” he added.

His post quickly gained traction as many Nigerians flooded the comment section to share their own experiences with escalating rent prices across the country.
