Popular American streamer and YouTuber, IShowSpeed, has arrived in Nigeria as part of his ongoing Africa livestream tour, making the country his 15th destination on the continent.

The online personality, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr., landed in Lagos on Wednesday and immediately went live, giving fans a real-time glimpse into his Nigerian experience ahead of his 21st birthday celebration.

During his stay in Nigeria, IShowSpeed made history by becoming the first Black creator to reach 50 million subscribers on YouTube, achieving the milestone on his 21st birthday while livestreaming from the country. The moment was celebrated live by millions of viewers across the globe.

IShowSpeed is in Nigeria under his ambitious project tagged “Speed Does Africa,” a 28-day livestream tour that began on December 29, 2025. The tour will see him visit 20 African countries.

The initiative is aimed at spotlighting Africa’s culture, people, and landscapes, while connecting global audiences to authentic experiences across the continent.

His arrival and record-breaking achievement have further fueled excitement among Nigerian fans, with many anticipating appearances, collaborations, and cultural explorations during his time in the country.
