By Matthew Eloyi

OurNigeria News Magazine has announced the nomination of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa among others, for its prestigious 2025 Outstanding Leadership Awards in recognition of their contributions to nation-building.

The OurNigeria News Awards, the magazine’s flagship annual initiative, is designed to celebrate Nigerians whose leadership, service, and dedication have delivered measurable impact across critical sectors of national development.

The 2025 awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on January 31, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, under the chairmanship of Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Danu.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Chairman of the Editorial Board of OurNigeria News Magazine, Dr. Ak Peters, described the awards as a respected national platform for celebrating excellence and patriotism.

“Over the years, the awards have become a credible platform for promoting excellence, positive national values, and patriotism, both within Nigeria and globally,” he said.

The theme for the 2025 edition, “Providing a Podium for the Unsung Hero,” reflects the magazine’s mission to spotlight individuals whose courage, sacrifice, and consistency have contributed significantly to national development, often without commensurate public recognition.

Under this vision, General Christopher Musa has been named Man of the Year 2025, while Governor Siminalayi Fubara emerged as Governor of the Year 2025.

Other major award recipients include Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Politician of the Year), Mubarak Ahmad Tijani (Plato Leadership Award for Young Politician of the Year), Hon. Mali Bulama Gubio (Local Government Chairman of the Year), and Comrade Uba Sani (Icon of National Unity and Patriotism).

Additional honourees are Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, recipient of the Colin Powell Meritorious Award in Soldiering, and Gen. Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, who will receive the TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership.

Dr. Peters explained that all honorees were selected following rigorous editorial evaluation, stakeholder consultations, and a review of leadership impact, public service records, and national influence between 2024 and 2025.

The ceremony is expected to bring together leaders from government, the private sector, civil society, the diplomatic community, and the media in a celebration of exemplary leadership and renewed national commitment.

The red carpet will begin at 5 p.m., while the main event will commence at 6 p.m., attracting Nigerians from all walks of life.

“OurNigeria News Magazine appreciates the continued partnership of the media and stakeholders in promoting positive Nigerian narratives, excellence, and accountability,” Dr. Peters added.
