President will officially attend the 61st edition of the in Kebbi State on Saturday, where he is expected to inaugurate key projects delivered by Governor and serve as Special Guest of Honour at the grand finale.

As part of his visit, the President will commission a newly constructed state secretariat, a motor park, and a road project, underscoring ongoing infrastructural development in the state.

Recognised by , the riverside festival held at Matan Fada remains one of Africa’s most prominent cultural showcases, celebrating heritage, tourism, and grassroots economic activity. The third day of the event drew a large crowd, with thousands of spectators gathering to witness the historic competition.

Participants thrilled audiences as they swam using traditional gourds, raced in canoes, and competed intensely to land the biggest fish of the festival.

The highlight of the competition saw a massive 59-kilogram fish emerge as the biggest catch of the 2026 edition. Abubakar Usman Maiyama clinched victory, earning a N1 million cash prize and two cars for his remarkable feat.

Fishermen from across Nigeria graced the 61st edition, reinforcing the festival’s reputation as a symbol of unity, cultural pride, and communal celebration.

The grand finale rekindled memories of the festival’s historic legacy, once again positioning Argungu as a celebration of love, tradition, and national cohesion.
