In Bojongo, Bonaberi, Douala, Cameroon, a man widely known as “Father Lion” for repeatedly assaulting his wife was publicly punished by local women after neighbors reported hearing his wife’s cries.

Videos circulating from the incident show the man attempting to defend himself with a machete, which was seized by another man, before the women intensified their actions. Ultimately, the man fled into a nearby hut to escape further punishment.
The episode highlights the community’s strong response to domestic violence, demonstrating local efforts to intervene when authorities are absent or slow to act. Authorities have yet to comment on any official follow-up or legal proceedings.
