Tinubu Mourns Victims, Vows to Crush Terrorists After Maiduguri Attacks

By Matthew Eloyi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent tеrrorist attacks in Maiduguri, pledging intensified military action to eliminate insurgent threats across the country.

In a State House statement issued on Tuesday, the President commiserated with the people of Borno State, mourning those who lost their lives and extending sympathy to the injured.

“The recent news from Maiduguri is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time,” the President said.

Tinubu described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorist groups under sustained pressure from Nigerian security forces. He insisted that such acts would not weaken the resolve of the government.

“These acts of terror are the final desperate attempts by criminals trying to instil fear, as they are under constant pressure from our armed forces,” he stated.

The President commended the military for repelling coordinated assaults on their positions, praising what he called the courage and resilience of troops and supporting civilian forces.

He also disclosed that he recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a high-level meeting with intelligence and defence chiefs. According to him, the deployment of these resources is already underway.

As part of immediate response measures, Tinubu directed top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations, while emergency agencies have been instructed to ensure proper medical care for those injured in the attacks.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national security, the President vowed that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists.

“We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he declared.
