The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen the implementation of social protection policies across Nigeria through a five-day Leadership Transformation and Capacity Building Programme for key stakeholders in the sector.
The programme, organised in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Union (EU), brought together directors from public and private sector institutions, as well as representatives of organised labour.
The initiative is designed to enhance the capacity of institutions and individuals responsible for developing and implementing social protection programmes, ensuring that interventions are more effective, inclusive and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
The training also seeks to promote stronger leadership, improve institutional coordination and enhance workers’ productivity, while equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to address emerging challenges in social protection.
The collaboration underscores the commitment of the Federal Government and its development partners to building a stronger and more inclusive social protection system capable of improving livelihoods, protecting vulnerable groups and supporting sustainable economic development.
The programme is expected to contribute to improved policy implementation and strengthen the capacity of relevant institutions to deliver social protection interventions that create meaningful impact across the country.
