In a statement issued on Friday, Yilwatda described the President’s visit as a strong demonstration of responsive leadership, empathy, and national solidarity at a time when the people of Plateau are mourning the loss of innocent lives.

He condemned the killings in the strongest terms, characterising the attacks as inhuman, cowardly, and a direct assault on the peace and unity of the state. According to him, the continued cycle of violence in Plateau represents a national tragedy that must no longer be met with routine reactions.

Yilwatda stressed the need for decisive, coordinated, and result-driven action by relevant authorities to ensure such incidents do not recur, urging community leaders to be more vigilant in identifying and reporting suspicious activities.

He noted that perpetrators of the violence are often embedded within or around communities, exploiting vulnerabilities to carry out attacks. He warned against silence and complicity, insisting that those responsible must be exposed and brought to justice.

The APC chairman also called on security agencies to upgrade their operational strategies, advocating the deployment of modern technology such as artificial intelligence-powered surveillance systems, drones, and advanced intelligence tools to combat increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

Highlighting the economic impact of insecurity, Yilwatda lamented that Plateau’s tourism and agricultural potential continue to suffer due to persistent violence, warning that no meaningful development can occur in an atmosphere of fear.

He urged a united approach involving government, traditional institutions, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society to restore peace and stability across the state.

The APC maintained that the President’s visit goes beyond symbolism, signalling the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing insecurity and supporting affected communities.

Yilwatda reaffirmed that the lives of Plateau residents are sacred and called for urgent action to end the bloodshed, declaring that the state must not be allowed to endure recurring violence.
