Osun 2026: Imole Campaign Council raises alarm over alleged plot to deploy fake DSS operatives

By Richard Akintade, Osogbo

The Imole Campaign Council has raised alarm over alleged deployment of fake operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) to eliminate 25 targeted government and Accord officials ahead of the August 15 polls.

Quoting unnamed intelligence from the Ilerioluwa campaign office of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), the statement signed by the Spokesperson to the Imole Campaign Council, Comrade Pelumi Olajengbesi, disclosed that the suspected fake, secret police have been allegedly deployed to major towns in Osun state.

The statement while commending the Inspector General of Police for enforcing fair policing in Osun state alerted the public to the alleged presence of hooded operatives who claimed to be DSS officials operating outside the command of the state Director of the DSS.

While calling the attention of the Director General of DSS to the new untoward development, the state government reported that the opposition APC and her operatives have been boasting of deploying DSS officials since the police is reportedly pushing towards fair policing in recent days.

The opposition’s open claim to such deployment was recently followed by strange lodgements across the state and sudden increase in harassment and intimidation of innocent citizens across towns and cities in the state, the statement posited.

Providing further details, the Imole Campaign Council noted that the said fake operatives claimed to be a special squad from Abuja and are already lodged at Osogbo, Ilesa, Iwo, Ikirun, Ede, and Ile Ife.

Beyond the attacks on specified leaders, the leak also alleged that the fake squad is to coordinate the deployment of armed thugs to continue the destruction of Accord billboards and organize booing of the governor at strategic points and locations in Osogbo, the state capital.

Part of the report hinted that arms inflow to APC thugs is at a high rate as manifested in several sections of the state such as Ilesa, Osogbo, Ikirun, Ile Ife and other areas.

While warning of dire consequences if the opposition continues its evil agenda, the Campaign Council also submitted that prominent Accord officials have been placed on elimination list, citing a prominent opposition Senator as the coordinator of the evil plot.

We have it on good authority that prominent officials of the administration numbering about 25 have been listed as targets with their movements being tracked and their communications bugged, the statement further narrated.

While affirming its preparedness for self defence within the law and while calling on the Presidency to call the Marine Minister, Gboyega Oyetola to order, the Imole Campaign Council calls the leaked report as “the most politically insane plot ever hatched by any anti-democratic elements seeking power through the backdoor.

“We call on the Director General of DSS to order an investigation and immediately halt this alleged operation which is by all accounts a pseudo, unauthorised scheme designed to drag the service into partisan waters through the backdoor.

“We also commend the Inspector General of Police for continuing his drive towards fair policing by directing reforms into the current partisan operations involving the Osun State Police Command.

“We however repeat our appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop efforts by his cousin, the Marine minister and Mr Gboyega Oyetola to turn Osun state into a battleground.

“We note with regret that at a time, all hands are on deck to mobilise Osun for the re-election of Mr President, his cousin and the Osun APC are fanning embers of discord and nurturing conflicts with dangerous implications for forthcoming elections”, the statement concluded.
