INEC Sets June 7 Deadline for Media Accreditation for Ekiti Governorship Election, Bye-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that accreditation for media coverage of the Ekiti State Governorship Election and the forthcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, will close at midnight on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The electoral commission urged all media organisations intending to cover the elections to complete their accreditation process before the deadline, warning that incomplete applications will not be considered.

According to INEC, the bye-elections will be conducted in the following constituencies:

Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency – Kano State

Zuru State Constituency – Kebbi State

Ondo South Senatorial District – Ondo State

Rivers South East Senatorial District – Rivers State

Nasarawa North Senatorial District – Nasarawa State

Enugu North Senatorial District – Enugu State

The Commission advised media organisations that have already commenced the accreditation process but are yet to complete their applications to do so without delay.

INEC stressed that no exceptions will be made for late submissions, noting that only fully completed applications submitted before the deadline will be processed and approved.

The Commission described the deadline as the final opportunity for media organisations seeking accreditation to cover both the Ekiti State Governorship Election and the scheduled bye-elections across the affected constituencies.

INEC therefore urged interested media houses to act promptly to avoid being excluded from the accreditation exercise.
